HARRISBURG – Pennsylvanians who may be displaced from their homes due to damage from Hurricane Sandy are reminded that an online housing locator is available to help them quickly find affordable rental housing. Located on the web at, there is no cost for using this service. People without Internet access can call the toll-free number provided below for help using this service.

[frame align=”right”][/frame]To ensure that displaced residents can find stable housing quickly, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency is urging all property providers to list available rental housing The process of listing an available unit takes about 10 minutes, is completely free and can be done online or through a toll-free call center.

“Having a comprehensive, centralized housing locator in place to help victims during a crisis is one of the key reasons we joined with other state agencies to launch 18 months ago,” said PHFA Executive Director and CEO Brian A. Hudson Sr. “It’s critical that as many housing options as possible be made available to victims, so we hope landlords will log on and take advantage of this free and easy way to promote their open units right away.

“Making sure our state’s residents can stabilize their lives quickly will help minimize the trauma that comes from being displaced from their homes. helped many families following Hurricane Irene last year, so it’s already proven its value in these kinds of situations.”

Landlords with available housing are asked to log on to or contact the toll-free call center to add properties at 1-877-428-8844. Listing and searching for rental units is always completely free. If property owners have rentals listed on that sustain damage from the storm, they are asked to update their status as soon as possible.
