As you can imagine, my office receives many e-mails, letters, faxes and phone calls a day. Due to the volume of communications, I give priority to those individuals who reside in the 22nd District. It is both custom and courtesy to allow the Senator in whose district you reside to respond to some communications and so I will also forward such requests accordingly. September 10, 2015: I regret deeply the inconveniences that the closure of the Main Street bridge caused the residents and small businesses of Moosic Borough over the past four years. Public safety is, however, paramount and a dangerous, structurally deficient structure has now been fully replaced and reconstructed to properly serve the needs of local citizens and businesses for years to come. It was a necessary and worthwhile investment of nearly $1.3 million in federal, state and county funding. Legal problems, engineering challenges, and public utility issues all combined to make this bridge replacement a far more complex and time-consuming undertaking than is typical for projects of this scale. I am, however, very glad that we were finally able to cut the ribbon and open the new bridge. I am also proud that the bridge is dedicated to our military servicemen and women as the Moosic Veterans Memorial Bridge. I thank PennDOT and Lackawanna County for their vigilance in completing a difficult project. August 3, 2015: Congratulations again to the all of the Archbald Little League and Softball teams that won championships this season -- the 2015 District 32 and Section 5 Champion Girls (9-10) Softball Team that also finished third in states; the District 32 Champion (10-11) Boys Team; and the District 32 Champion (11-12) Boys Team! You have all made your parents, your coaches and your community very proud of your great accomplishments! A special thanks to all the volunteer coaches who commit so much time and effort on behalf of these wonderful young athletes. July 27, 2015: It was a pleasure to join Mayor Bill Courtright, state Rep. Marty Flynn, Lackawanna County Commissioner Jim Wansacz, Natalie Gelb and Julia Munley from the Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area (LHV), as well as executives from Pennsylvania American Water and DCNR to officially open Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area in ‪‎Scranton
