HARRISBURG, January 12, 2011 – – State Sen. John P. Blake today congratulated Lackawanna County residents Joe Sibio and Natasha Bistran, and Scranton’s McNichols Plaza Elementary School first grade class for winning first place awards in competitions at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

“Agriculture is a driving force in Pennsylvania and it is great to see these contributors and future contributors rewarded for their excellent work,” Blake said. “Lackawanna County has an incredibly strong heritage in agriculture and it is important that it is a continued emphasis in the community and the classroom.”

Open until Jan. 15, the Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural event in the nation, featuring nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 290 commercial exhibitors.
